Merseyside offers some great places to live, with plenty of hidden gems to be found. There’s a huge range of parks and coastline as well as thriving centres and a fantastic nightlife and arts scene. Location, Location, Location
It’s easy to buy a house in Wirral and work somewhere else. It’s a short commute into Liverpool, and Chester lies just to the South. The M53 runs right through Wirral and grants access to the M56, M6 and M62. Manchester is just over an hour away and you also have easy access to the beautiful North Wales Coast and Anglesey with some fantastic beaches, walks and castles. All in all, a perfect location for access to the best of the North West.
Investment in the area
There has been a lot of investment in Wirral and there is more on the way! There are plans in development for a New Brighton Marine Promenade Masterplan to unlock to potential of the seaside town. The plans aim to build on the momentum of the resort following the £80 million investment already made in Marine Point leisure and retail facility.
Birkenhead is also due to see some huge changes with a regeneration programme already underway. There is another round of investment and a range of developments now in consultation stage that could change the face of the area.
The countryside
Wirral is blessed with an abundance of green space. There is the historic Birkenhead Park, Arrow Country Park, Central Park in Liscard, Wirral Country Park as well as the 31-acre Storeton Woods where you can find an old sandstone quarry dating back to Roman times. If you like walking, then you will be spoilt for choice with lots of routes to choose from including the Wirral Way which stretches for 13 miles from West Kirby to Hooton.
There are plenty of opportunities for watersports and sailing here too as well as access to beaches if you would rather relax and watch somebody else kitesurf! There is plenty to keep golfers happy with a wide variety of municipal and private golf courses and of course, Wirral is home to the Royal Liverpool at Hoylake.
Great schools
We know this doesn’t apply to everyone, but if you have a family or are thinking of starting one, then access to excellent schools is a key consideration. The grammar system is still in place in Wirral and Wirral Grammar School Girls, Caldy Grange, Wirral Boys are all very highly rated. It’s not just the grammar schools that do well, there are a range of academies and colleges that are also highly ranked with good outcomes for the pupils.
Lots of great food and drink places
It’s important that there is a range of places to go for your leisure time and Wirral also has this covered. There are some brilliant independent pubs, bars and restaurants as well as the big brands you may expect. There is something for everyone from cafes on the beach to restaurants in the many villages dotted around the area.
